         She skipped rope like the hemp was D I A M O N D

                   Ankles bleeding ruby strands

                   That instead of trickling onto cement,
                             shot like ribbons from the maypole

         Ebony curls and a Cherub smile,

                   Filtered, fleeting, flowing fluorescent
                   Gaze unmatched by the Highlighter Sun

                             Tears, the ruby strands, carefully holding

                             Like Mother’s Grasp,
                                       Onto the cement, the ribbons tied her
